I believe that students in 3rd grade are at an age where they can accept more responsibility. To achieve this, I will provide a homework template for them with assignments that are scheduled on a regular basis, such as spelling and reading assignments. At the beginning of the year this form will include all of their assignments for the week. At the beginning of the 3rd quarter they will receive forms that have spaces forMonday through Thursday and labels for math, spelling, reading, social studies, science, etc. and it will be their responsibility to fill in the pages they need to do. Parent initials/signatures are needed for the days independent reading is assigned.
Each student has a homework folder and they are aware of their job to take it home, complete the work in inside, and return the work and folder the next day.
An additional folder will go home on Thursdays, this folder will contain all graded assignments the students are not using in class. The folder needs to be returned, empty, the next day.
